Dubbo

Activity began in the area back in 1824, in 1849 the area was named Dubbo and in 1872 Dubbo was declared a town. Today, Dubbo is a large thriving town consisting of 40,000 residents, located about 4.5 hours north west of Sydney on the Macquarie River. Dubbo in the Aboriginal language means ‘red earth’. There are many things to do and see in Dubbo, the largest attraction being the Taronga Western Plains Zoo, see over 1,000 animals in an African safari over 300 hectares.
