Narooma, a popular holiday destination is a small fishing and logging town with about 8,500 residents. In the early 1800’s Narooma was used as a port for nearby gold mining. Oyster farming is also a big attraction and the town comes alive in May for the annual Narooma Oyster Festival. Guided tours visit Montague Island, 8km off the coast, famous for its historic lighthouse, seals, penguins and bird life.
