South West Rocks

Located alongside the Macleay River mouth, South West Rocks was once a small fishing village, now an excellent holiday destination 40km north east of Kempsey. One of the main attractions is the Trial Bay Gaol which opened in 1886 and closed in 1918. The gaol has a restaurant nearby or there are picnic grounds with barbecues in surrounding parklands. Another attraction is the waves, there is good surfing to be had at Horseshoe Bay or one of the many beach breaks around the area.
