Cloncurry
Cloncurry is a small friendly outback town of about 4,000 residents in the North West of Queensland near Mt Isa. Founded in 1867 by Ernest Henry for its copper, present industries include grazing, gold mining and copper. The Royal Flying Doctor Service was launched in Cloncurry and its maden voyage was on 17 May 1928. Located just out of town, Chinaman Creek Dam is a relaxing place for a barbecue picnic and there are swings for the kids to play on. On the drive back to town take in the views of the township from Rotary Lookout.
