Paronella Park and Mena Creek

Spanish José Paronella had a dream, to build his sweetheart a castle. The first of its kind with hydro electricity generated by Mena Creek Falls. José’s park was completed and opened to the public in 1935. After cyclones and fires that have ripped through the area over the years, today is much in ruin. More than 7,000 tropical plants and trees were planted on the 13 acre property, making it a must see. And don't forget to pop into the 1929 built Mena Creek Hotel for a refreshing drink.
