Stanley

Stanley is a lovely small historic town surrounded by farming land in the north west settled in 1825. Known for ‘The Nut’ an extinct volcano forming a 35 hectare table-top landmark 152 metres high on the coastline. Joe Lyons Cottage is the birth place in 1879 of Tasmania’s only Prime Minister of Australia, The Right Honourable Joseph A. Lyons (1932-1939). Fairy Penguins nest around the peninsula and can be viewed coming ashore from dusk.
