Bungle Bungles Purnululu National Park
The Bungle Bungles is an amazing and unique World Heritage Listed Area in the eastern Kimberley. The Bungles are well known for the large bee hive dome shaped banded sandstone formations. The 45,000 hectare national park varies from huge escarpments, ranges and palm lined gorges in the north, to colourful dome shaped ranges and gorges in the south. The Bungles can be accessed by a 53km long and windy 4x4 track from the Great Northern Highway. There are a few water crossings, which are not deep during the dry season but you do need high clearance. Bring supplies as there are no services in the National Park. The Park has 2 camping areas (north and south) with plenty of shady sites. But if you have a caravan, don't worry there is a caravan park at the entry off the Great Northern Highway.
