Menzies and Kookynie

Menzies is a small historic town built from the gold rush that started in 1984. A must see is Lake Ballard, a dry salt lake about 50km west of Menzies, where artist Antony Gormley has scattered 51 sculptures across the lake. Kookynie, just a short drive north is an old gold prospecting town now mainly in ruins is an interesting look back at once a happening town.
